Your prospect knows you used AI
Your prospect knows you used AI. They can tell in seconds whether you understand their issues.
That’s the new bar.
Anyone can generate a polished message in 10 seconds. Very few can generate one grounded in real context.
“Just checking in.” “We’re the leading platform.” “This will save you time and money.”
Sounds fine. Says nothing. Wins nothing.
When everyone sounds competent, competence stops being a differentiator.
Specific wins. Proof wins. Relevance wins.
If you’re using AI for outreach, the issue isn’t the tool.
It’s the prompt.
Most reps type: “Write a follow up.”
That’s not strategy. It’s delegation.
I use a structure called GOAL MAP.
GOAL forces clarity: • Goal, what the message must achieve • Operator, who it’s for • Angle, the perspective it should take • Language, how it should sound
When the stakes are higher, I add MAP: • Mandates, rules it must follow • Analog, a structure to mirror • Place, deal stage and risk context
GOAL gives speed. MAP gives control.
Prospects don’t reject AI.
They reject messages built on vague thinking.
The infographic below shows 10 phrases that quietly kill deals.
The fix isn’t better wording.
It’s better judgment before the wording.
